    We pride ourselves on really getting to know our clients and to understand their audience. We build trusted relationships so we can deliver projects that make us all feel proud.

  • Nottingham Writers Studio

    Established in 2007, we’ve always had one clear goal in our vision: to be a home for all writers.

    A one-of-a-kind venue in the heart of the Midlands, Nottingham Writers’ Studio is a place for people to come together; meet like-minded individuals, develop new skills, and become the best writers we can be.

    As well as offering workshops, courses, and networking opportunities, we also offer a variety of writing services, including coaching and mentoring packages as well as publishing and editorial support.

    Early 2019 saw an exciting new chapter for NWS when we became a part of The Carousel – a multi-purpose art space for Nottingham’s creative community. Our home at 25 Hockley is now a more vibrant and inspiring environment than ever, as we share the building with designers, illustrators, photographers, and even some very friendly dogs!

    Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been writing for decades, there’s a place for you here at NWS.

  • Benjamin Kay

    Hello I’m Benjamin Kay. I work on a desk on the foundation floor of The Carousel and also use The Carousel Printing House facilities.

    I am the Development Manager and co-founder of The Carousel and I’m often trying to find ways to grow the organisation and community. Alongside this I am a Creative Producer and spend time coordinating public art projects such as street art projects and workshop programmes. I have a background in printmaking and graphic design and enjoy using these mediums to make things happen such as exhibitions, workshops or events. I also love to DJ and get to play a set every month for The Carousel Tapes.

  • Harry Cooper

    Hey, I'm Harry Cooper and I work as a Software Engineer, usually on accessible games of varying sorts, but have created websites, audio plugins, and a bunch of other digitial bits and pieces. I also love to mix/make music and play in a few bands around Notts. My background is in music production, playing instruments (mainly drums), making games, and spatial audio.   • Tracey Meek

    Hello, I am Tracey Meek, I work in a little corner of the foundation floor of the Carousel. I am a multidisciplinary artist working with illustration, painting and ceramics.

    I have a playful, experimental approach that translates into community engagement. I love finding new interesting ways of sharing creative process, I am interested in interaction and creative intervention. When I’m coming up with ideas for this kind of thing I think back to childhood experiences of science museums or lift the flap story books. I like to play with perspective and discover the next element of surprise.

    I also love; a good dance, the smell of books and records, catching the end of a strangers conversation and making up the rest, winning at Pictionary, dogs, socks, hats and pink wigs.

  • Angelena Claire Efstathiou

    Hello I am… Angelena, sometimes also known as Kiki! I work on the upstairs floor at The Carousel. I am a Research Biologist and I specialise in bats, that’s right the flying little mammals! My background is in Conservation and Biodiversity, with a focus on endangered species recovery.

    I currently work at The Bat Conservation Trust (bats.org.uk) where I manage two national citizen science projects. I also undertake research more locally through Nottinghamshire Bat Group, focusing on a migratory species of bat, the Nathusius pipistrelle.

    Alongside this, I also spin some tunes at the weekends and this is where the alter ego Kiki D comes out! You can find DJ Kiki D at various venues across Nottingham playing disco, funk, soul, afro house and amapiano! If you are interested in finding out more about me check out my website

  • Faye Finney

    Hello, I'm Faye Finney and I have a studio space on the foundation floor of The Carousel.

    I am an illustrator and designer, who has a huge passion for children's book illustration and dogs, but I've worked across a large sector of the illustration industry including editorial & branding for other small businesses.

    I have an online shop where you can purchase a range of prints, greeting cards and accessories and you may find me taking part in many of the brilliant creative makers markets that happen across the city. I regularly use The Carousel printing house for print on demand services and to create my stock for markets & other local businesses including the brilliant Handmade Nottingham.

    When I'm not illustrating, you'll find me Lecturing at DMU in Leicester on the Graphic Design & illustration course.

    I've been fortunate enough this last year to develop my creative practice & this has included working exclusively on Character development, drawing from life and developing my observational skills so I can offer new workshops & skills.

    I'm always looking to work with lovely people to help bring their vision to life, so let's create something exciting together!
