Celebrating Global Queer Poetry with Hongwei Bao and Gregory Woods

This event celebrates global queer history, desire and creativity by launching two poetry chapbooks: Hongwei Bao’s Dream of the Orchid Pavilion (Big White Shed, 2024) and Gregory Woods’ They Exchange Glances: Gay Modernist Poems in Translation (Hercules Editions, 2024). Informed by different cultural traditions and composed in distinct styles, these poems testify to the persistence of queer desire even under difficult circumstances and the richness of queer history and heritage around the world.

Step into the stangely familiar worlds of Jim Gibson and Joshua Jones as they read from their acclaimed short story collections, The Bygones and Local Fires.

The Bygones offers a glimpse into a specific part of the world at a specific time in history. These small stories range from the very real to the very bizarre, taking you on a journey that explores the hidden layers of life and fiction.

Local Fires sees debut writer Joshua Jones turning his acute focus to his birthplace of Llanelli, South Wales. Explore themes of identity, gender, sexuality, toxic masculinity, and neurodivergence in a collection versatile in its observations, as the misadventures of the town's inhabitants threaten to spill over into an incendiary finale, witness the emergence of a singular new Welsh literary voice.

Poet Bobby Parker - matyr to the page, writing as if nothing mattered more.

Ichabod Wolf - performs songs about myth, morality and unemployment in a distict baratone voice.
