Batik and Dyeing Workshop
Batik is a traditional textile technique that uses wax resist and dyes to create intricate and expressive fabric designs, attributed to Indonesia and found throughout the world. For this workshop you will learn about the process and have a go at creating your own fabric and paper artworks to take home, which can be used as unique decorative items.
Using wax, tjanting tools and paintbrushes you will be taught how to build up layers in between dye colours to create complex and bright designs. Batik is a technique that works brilliantly with many types of design from figurative to abstract.
