Visible mending workshop - Patch making
We all have clothes that have become worn out through love or we do not wear them anymore because they have lost their appeal. Why throw them away when you can learn to make beautiful heat press vinyl and embroidered patches to cover up the imperfections, make your clothes fun again and give them a new lease of life.
What you will do…
In this session we will creatively look at ways to cover up the wear and tear of one of your old items of clothing. Making bespoke patches out of heat press vinyl, felt, scrap fabric and thread. (If you haven't got any worn out clothes then we will look at making patches that could be used to revive clothing you have fallen out of love with over time)
We will be thinking outside the box when making our designs and considering how to make mending old clothes unique, aesthetically pleasing and artistic.
At the end of the session you will be leaving with your old clothing fixed and with a new lease of life, ready to wear again!
About the artists…
This workshop is led by Grace Calloway, a multi-disciplinary artist and designer as well as a facilitator and events organiser. Her focuses as a workshop facilitator are sustainability, wellbeing, community, inclusivity and social engagement. Graces practice encourages adult play, experimentation and exploration of materials. Founder of Messy Brain.
Important Information
Please bring an old item of clothing with you to the workshop unless you would just like to make a patch without customising it to a specific piece of clothing that needs mending.
These workshops are accessible for creatives who have never used heat press vinyl or embroidered before.
They are also suitable for creatives who would like to refresh their knowledge or already have the skills but would like to get involved in a socially engaging workshop.
We need a certain number of participants for this workshop to run. In the event that we do not get enough participants the workshops will be postponed. Postponed workshops will always be on the same day of the week as the original booking. We will inform you within one weeks notice if we need to postpone. If we are unable to run the workshops refunds are available as a last resort.
Teas and coffees are included and feel free to bring your dinner!
