Batik and Dyeing Workshop

Batik is a traditional textile technique that uses wax resist and dyes to create intricate and expressive fabric designs, attributed to Indonesia and found throughout the world. For this workshop you will learn about the process and have a go at creating your own fabric  and paper artworks to take home, which can be used as unique decorative items!

What you will do…

Using wax, tjanting tools and paintbrushes you will be taught how to build up layers of wax in between dye colours to create complex and bright designs.

Batik is a technique that works brilliantly with many types of design from figurative to abstract.

This workshop is led by artist Amelia Daiz; a socially engaged artist who has been working professionally as an artist and workshop facilitator for over 6 years. Her practice is multi-disciplinary, often including elements of print, text and participatory work and has been exhibited locally and within Europe.
